Local History . . . Live! Saturday 12 October

The Swansea Branch of the Historical Association is running its annual Local History . . . Live! event on Saturday 12 October at the National Waterfront Museum from 11am to 4pm. Exhibitors include Clydach Historical Society, Bryngold Books, Historical Association, Llansamlet Historical Society, Richard Burton Archive, Swansea University, Connected Communities, Seamark Trust (with the Seamark pilot boat possibly open for visitors), the White Rock Alll Our Sotries, Swansea Your Story, and the Inland Waterways Association Swansea Branch.

The centre piece this year is the 60 Second Show and Tell at 2pm. A stage will be set up in the centre of the main hall. Contributors are given 60 seconds maximum to showcase their object and describe its use and importance. There will be a chair to ensure timekeeping and fair play, and to ring a bell at time out.

Steph Mastoris, Director of the Museum, and Industrial Curator Ian Smith will chair the show and provide expert commentary. All will be in a spirit of good fun to engage existing and new visitors in local history events. Bring your objects on the day to amaze and mystify.

There will be a book swap, and this is the last weekend of the Canal Exhibition. The six Connected Communities projects have an Exhibition upstairs in the White Wall Gallery. There really is something for everyone!
